Come on ,Deniers, learn from the best : the sleazy tactics of GG Simpson, the world's best known continential drift DENIER

Climate deniers are already pretty good at presenting nonsense arguments in science to deny the existence of human-cause climate change ----- but they can always do better.

One of the best of the old school deniers at slashing and smearing opponents was the world-famous paleontologist, George Gaylord Simpson , one of the eternal deities of the "Darwinian Heaven".

One of the most effective torpedoes ever aimed at the idea of continental drift was Simpson's 1943 claim that he had studied the evolution and spread of the mammals better than anyone else and that evidence showed no sign of  continental drift.

Wegener was long dead by then so he couldn't defend his thesis - but his chief supporter, South African Alexander Du Toit, tried his best.

Tried, by agreeing wholeheartedly with Simpson's claim.

Agreeing wholeheartedly and then asking "and your point is ??"

He agreed because he showed that both opponents and supporters of continental drift had long ago agreed that mammals only emerged after the last major drifting apart of today's continents , so they offered no proof one way or another about events before their emergence.

I've said it before : the best work Naomi Oreskes ever did about climate change denying was her earlier, lesser known, work on continental drift deniers. I am willing to bet my farm that many geologists were involved in both : both equally wrong.

Consistent in their wrongness, if in nothing else !

GG Simpson was a past-master at bogus arguments to destroy his opponents

Simpson had put up a totally bogus argument, in other words,  in one peer-reviewed prominent journal in one field of science, to smear a scientist in another field.

Now Fred Singer and his ilk might "point with pride" to their unequalled ability to smear other scientists by illogical scientific arguments but are they truly worthy of this bold claim to scientific infamy ?

Come on Freddie : pull up your socks, learn from the best, er, worst : GG Simpson ,past-master of sleeze....

LYELL emerges from grave to deny climate change , as Yankee deniers crow "we knew he would!"

Actually Sir Charles Lyell is dead - long dead - with no sign his body has yet risen from the grave. But what about his intellectual spirit ?

Because, in fact, Lyell's spirit, his soul (the theory of uniformitarianism) does live on (and on and on).

Lives on and on in the minds of the climate deniers - and never more strongly than in that heartland of climate denialism : among many of the old school American geologists.

No coincidence that, because in its heyday uniformitarianism also thrived strongest in America geology.

Geological and meteorological deniers today claim that the climate hasn't changed, because it can not change but merely oscillate over a constant central value, if viewed over geological time periods.

If this sounds even vaguely familiar, it is because American deniers back in uniformitarianism's heyday said exactly the same thing to explain why in their view the geology of the earth hadn't changed and couldn't change.

The House Wine of Modernity (& Denierism) is Uniformitarianism

The American geological elite's favourite words were the food and drink of modernity itself, so these geological deniers were then fully of the mainstream , in fact the mainstream of the mainstream.

Words and phrases like : normal, norm, average, static, unchanging, balance, equilibrium, eternal, universal, oscillating deviations of a local and temporary nature.

Nature was a passive backdrop : unchanging, eternal, universal.

Einstein, one of the clearest examples of 19th century scientific thinking, believed that the universe had always been there and always would be there : it was neither birthed nor would it die.

Against this 19th century static theatre backdrop, the minds of human actors were the active, changing elements of reality.

Peasants, by contrast, extrapolated from their miserable and uncertain lives to see the forces of nature as still all powerful and dynamically uncertain and us humans powerless to do much more than strive to survive its storms and earthquakes.

But upper middle class males, highly educated in western values , saw reality as very certain and predictable, again extrapolating from their extremely privileged lives.

(They, it can be safely assumed, never had to deal with even the minor uncertainties of life such as just when and how baby would choose to spoil her last remaining clean diaper !)

So if we threw Fred Singer out of a plane over Sub-Saharan Africa and told him to hunt and gather for himself, it would be pretty safe to assume we would find him a few years later, not just thinner and fitter, but also with a totally reversed view on whether Climates - and Nature in general - can and do change.

It is no coincidence that the Rich think reality is stable and unchanging and the Poor feel it is unstable and unpredictable....

is Galileo Movement or is Climate Change a "JEWISH" Cabal ? writes "Confused in Eastbourne"

Dear "Confused in Eastbourne" :

You are not alone in your confusion. But neither are you a mainstream journalist either , ignoring this story completely.

The Galileo Movement is Australia's best known and most active climate changing denying group. Its list of scientific advisors is a virtual "Who's Who" of the global climate denying elite.

Its managing director, Malcolm Roberts, quoting two of those scientific advisors, Jo Nova and Dave Evans, says the whole climate change fuss was cooked up by big banking families, a close-knit cabal, "banksters" as Jo calls them, to secure total world domination.

Google to the rescue, "Confused in Eastbourne", those are code words - dog whistle words - for Jewish banking families seeking total world domination.

As Dave says, the Rothschilds, in case someone forgot the secret translating box.

But now this , in the comments section below Andrew Bolt's column in the Melbourne Australia  Herald Sun
I can’t speak for Malcolm Roberts but can say with intimate first hand knowledge that one of the co-founders of the Galileo Movement - John Smeed (my father-in-law),has been happily married to his lovely Jewish wife for over 20 years.

The fact that The Age seeks to slur non-conformists by association with National Socialism says more about them ( and the strength of their argument) than it does the Galileo Movement.

Now "Confused from Eastbourne" you are astute because you noticed in the website of  The Galileo Movement that Mr Smeed's wife is given prominent credit for being willing to risk all the family assets of this retired couple, to fund a tour of Australia by a foreign denier.

So clearly, she gave The Galileo Movement and its anti-semites her 110%,  as they say in SportsJockLand.

Wait ! There's more !!!!

Fred Singer and Richard Lindzen , both of whose relatives suffered and died under Hitler's extermination of Europe's Jews, also are listed as scientific advisors to The Galileo Movement.

Perhaps you are right, "Confused from Eastbourne", those Rothschilds must have done something spectacular to get these three Jews so dead set against them and acting like there is some truth to Henry Ford's old "Protocols of the Zionist Elders" world conspiracy talk after all.

It is all a highly interesting story, "Confused from Eastbourne", but don't expect to see it in any mainstream newspaper.

All of them have given those Galileo scientific advisors wide credibility by quoting them as "scientific experts" on the other side of the 97% scientific consensus on global warming, in a misguided excuse at "objectivity".

Exposing their so called experts as supporting anti-semitic conspiracy theories would only make these newspapers appear to be fools.

And what would be the point of that ?

Their readers, better than anyone else, already knew that --- years ago.

Sorry I can't be anymore hopeful,

yours sincerely,

M. R. Marshall

Climate Change a JEWISH conspiracy says group that famous scientist Fred Singer, who fled Hitler, now advises

The famous scientist Fred Singer who fled Austria with his Jewish parents just ahead of Hitler's troops, now finds himself in the centre of a racial slur maelstrom swirling around the well known Australian climate change denier group, The Galileo Movement.

Singer, along with other Jewish-born scientists like Richard Lindzen , is a scientific advisor to the group whose managing director, Malcolm Roberts, told Ben Cubby from Australia's biggest newspaper, the Sydney Morning Herald, that climate change science has been "captured" by some of the world's major "banking families" who form a "tightly-knit cabal".

Singer's moral dilemma : defend his Jewish heritage against his fellow climate deniers or silently assent to their claim...

So Singer is now torn ---- torn between defending his jewish heritage against this re-tooled Zion Protocols slur from fellow deniers, or ignore it to remain in the fight with the anti-semites against global warming.

When Jewish NGOs (B'nai B'rith etc) that defend against anti-semitic remarks get wind of this growing controversy, they will add even greater public pressure on Singer to denounce his anti-semitic fellow deniers and resign forthwith from The Galileo Movement scientific advisory board.....
